Come Follow Me Doctrine & Covenants 41-44

In learning about Holy Week prior to Easter, we learned about Maundy Thursday. What does Maundy mean? It comes from the Latin word ‘mandatum.’ Think of mandate, command; or as we think of Jesus saying, ‘commandment’. “A new commandment I give to you,” Christ taught his disciples on that Thursday evening, “that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” (John 13:34) He had shown this love throughout his ministry, and then before his last meal with them, he knelt down and washed his disciples feet – one by one, a humble demonstration of this commandment, just as he had shown this love as he healed one by one, each according to their needs.

As I Have Loved You – Gospel For Kids

When you consider the six-hundred and something commandments the Jewish leaders of Christ’s day had turned the Ten Commandment Law of Moses into, Jesus’ commandments are so simple. If His two commandments are too hard to remember, Danny Gokey says it here in a way that might help it stick in your brain, then apply as the song comes into your mind.

Love God Love People – Danny Gokey

“And now, behold, I give unto you a commandment, that when ye are assembled together ye shall instruct and edify each other.” (Doctrine & Covenants 43:8) The thought comes to my mind that as we learn the fullness of the gospel, perhaps we learn much of it from each other; as we each learn in a unique way from God and the spirit, we then teach a unique perspective. I know I have learned many Godly truths from others, regardless of how they worship. How beautiful to consider that we are each individual elements in the ‘fullness’.

I love popular music that testifies of the gospel. Here’s an oldie – but definitely a goodie.

One Love – Bob Marley & The Wailers

Love is a law much like gravity that is unchangeable – God’s love for us is constant. The cycle of Love isn’t so hard for us to get into – that as love goes out from us, we feel it coming back at us in more abundance. It must be a universal power that we have yet to fully grasp: the power of God.

May you feel God’s love upon you, as you love one another.

Thank you to all the artists whose songs share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and fill my life with joy.
