FEBRUARY 24-MARCH 2: The Worth of Souls Is Great

Come Follow Me Doctrine and Covenants 18

Several years ago I held a precious granddaughter for the first and last time. She was perfect. Yet she had never taken a breath. She had never done anything to earn the love of her parents and siblings and family, yet, she is infinitely loved, held dear, and never forgotten. Her worth is not earned.

Parenthood has mixed frustrations. All the promise we imagine for our children and grandchildren, even as they don’t always choose to go our way. Yet, somehow, I’m seeing my own managing to make their ways even greater, becoming stronger people – not always on the easiest roads, but through their choices, and heavenly instruction catered to them.

I was blessed to learn from parents who were constant with their unwavering love. Certainly, heavenly parents are no less attentive to each child, even as they allow our agency to direct our course of growth. We matter! Our way, our choices, matter. We are embraced, brought home, by the gift of the atonement. Our worth in his sight is not earned – it just is.

We need to have some fun! We have been reminded recently that the Lord’s gospel is a gospel of joy! Knowing I am a child of God is cause for dancing and celebration, for this world’s dirt has no hold on me! So clap them hands and and stomp them feet . . .!

Some things that are true: 1) We need to face trials. 2) Our trials have purpose – our growth, another’s growth, or to bring forth miracles. 3) We are seen by our Savior.

I have been taught recently as I witnessed a servant of the Lord spend hours greeting others one by one, undaunted by the long line of those waiting their turn. All through the dinner hour they came as she continued to greet them with joy. One by one, each person was compassionately and personally ministered to. No one was hurried, and no one was turned away. The giver didn’t leave until all had been seen, and dinner – that she didn’t get to eat – was cleaned up and gone.

One by one Jesus heals us. We will each have our turn.

Ben Fuller talks openly about his close call with suicide, followed by years of self destructive behavior in addictions. Weary from the sinning, he returned to church one day and committed himself to God. He says he that in finding God, he could at last tell the truth, and live in it. Amen!

With the true view of who he is as a child of God, Ben now blesses us with the testimony he bears in his music. Thank you, Ben. God bless you.

Who I Am – Ben Fuller

Truth – I am a child of God! So are you. He will wait, and won’t give up on us, ever!

Thank you to all the artists whose songs share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and fill my life with joy.
