Come Follow Me 3 Nephi 20-26

Our theme from last week continues… First comes love — Then comes marriage — Then comes baby in the baby carriage!

Whether or not you see yourself as a parent, you are, in fact, someone’s child. It is my sincere prayer that you, child, feel the love of a parent, especially a heavenly parent. This is the truth for us all to know and say. “I am a child of God!”

To Be His Child- Shawna Belt Edwards with Once Voice Choir

If we were able to meet the child we were before being slammed by our earthly pains, would we see better who we truly are? I believe that to some degree we come prepackaged to be who we find ourselves today. From very young ages I could see innate personalities and abilities of my own children. Yet through their life experiences and choices, like extra ingredients added to a cake mix, they’ve become a unique blend, a fuller version of the package they came as. No doubt that’s true for us all.

I was recently in a conversation where someone asked, “Do you know what our favorite sound is?” The answer: “The sound of our name.” Have you noticed that being called by your name lets you know you’re somewhere where you belong, from a doctor’s waiting room, a class roster, or at home.

In looking for songs of home and family I came across this ASL tutorial from Small Talk Academy, and became mesmerized! So I had to share this! This home sounds like a place for many to belong, heard through hand motions, a big smile, and right to the heart.

This next beautiful song by Sara Bareilles is one I knew needed to be shared. There are so many good recordings of it; I chose this one because I want it heard through the lens of parent/child relationship. To know that we matter to our Father, as He matters to us.

Back with One Voice Children’s Choir – (they’re a very good voice) with clips of the movie ‘The Other Side of Heaven 2‘, a fun illustration of a home filled with the love of children. Perhaps our earthly homes give us glimpses into our home in Heaven.

Love At Home- Once Voice Children’s Choir/Other Side of Heaven 2

I have been so blessed with parents who created a home of belonging – like their parents before them; and then with my own children who continue to carry on that tradition, for it is a tradition – of loving God, loving His children, and including all in a place of home, and safety.

Thank you to all the artists whose songs share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and fill my life with joy.
