Come Follow Me – Alma 43-52
Watching this video of a Kearns Relief Society Choir reminds me that even into seasoned years we’re still ‘youth of the noble birthright‘!
So Carry On!-
We have been watching the Paris Olympics. The indominable human spirit on display! Stories like Simone Biles who has fought through mental health to multiple Gold Medals, fill me with hope, and the will to persevere. And Katie Ledecky that is in a class of her own! All of the competitors and champions are truly awe inspiring – what would our grandparents have thought of today’s achievements?
Each week I see others who are pushing through other challenges, striving to rebuild lives that got a bit broken. And I applaud them! I see them putting broken pieces together, and discarding anger and addiction that needs to be tossed out. It is hard work. And I don’t think there are any of us who aren’t having to do that every day. But we’re not doing it alone.
Danny Gokey reminds us that there is someone there with us that has our back, to help rebuild from past sorrows and mistakes.
Stand in Faith-
We were driving to our services one Sunday morning when we heard this next song as we’d never heard it before. There are several videos on YouTube, but this uses the best audio version.
Carry on My Wayward Son- by the Sons of Serendip.
Kudos to Tanya for knowing who first recorded this song. (btw it’s Kansas.)
Mahatma Gandhi tells us, “Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.” To be sure, we find out how strong we are when we stand up again after being knocked down. Again and again and again. We rebuild. We allow the broken to be mended.
Hillsong Worship’s song Oceans- teaches it well – even sung on busy streets.
Amen to that.
