Come Follow Me – Alma 39-42

First up we start with a little story …

It’s so easy to think that our trials are taking us away from Christ, when the reality is – they help us to find Him. To become more holy, more worthy of His redeeming love.

Savior, Redeemer of My Soul- sung by Dallyn Bayles, video posted by Steven Sorenson

You’ve done a dot-to-dot picture, right? We loved them as kids, but then our more experienced eye began to recognize the outline of the picture before connecting the dots. I get myself into a lot of trouble because I don’t connect the dots, instead jumping to assumptions.

I’ve enjoyed these downloadable Dot-to-dots for the more experienced. Even so, what you get is still just an outline of a picture.

So what makes an outline of a woman into the Mona Lisa? ‘Simple’ is not the place where we begin, for there’s first a lot of learning and preparation to get us there.

I Feel My Savior’s Love-   Jacob Hughes.

An outline is necessary. Even if it’s only in your head, it’s the place to start, the  the pattern to follow. I’ve been learning (with much frustration) that the template we choose will have its own inherit parameters. To achieve what we hope for, we may need to choose a different template, or perhaps a brush that suits our own process. From there our shadings and overlays and subtle color changes create something unique. God’s template allows for a grand palette to work with, colors that won’t fade. Where we will find who we truly are, a design beyond what we now know or imagine.

This is expressed so beautifully here by the Bonner family.
