NOVEMBER 10-16: “I Have Seen Your Sacrifices in Obedience”
Come Follow Me Doctrine and Covenants 129-132
What do you want? What do you really want? If you’re not willing to sacrifice to get it, you don’t really want it.
I remember saving up for my first car. A school-bus yellow Vega stick-shift. Dad taught me how to drive the stick and I became a master. No stop sign on an upward slope could scare me away. I loved that car! It was cute. I was cute in it. We saw many adventures together.
Then I had my first baby. He came five weeks early. He was teeny. He was perfect. I sold my Vega to pay the uninsured hospital bill. I’ve never regretted that trade. My first-born looks good wearing school-bus yellow- tribute to his lifetime love of learning. We have had many adventures together, and I plan for many many more – to keep him forever.
Something Divine – Brooke White
Here is a beautiful reminder that although we may not be packaged like others, our inborn capacity is not any less. In fact, it may be a sign that we are holding even more than others, our differences as protective blessings.
Find Your Note – Piano Gal
The story behind the next song can be found at this site. https://jamesfwright.com/the-story-of-the-captain/ It’s a story of fighting addiction; that in finding our turning point is to find we can let go of the wheel and rely on the Master’s steering.
The Captain – James. F. Wright
What comes next after this life? That is a question that inspires much debate. As for me, I believe that the hereafter continues to bring us growth – what else are we supposed to do forever?
Intelligence, knowledge, wisdom – these are things we take with us. “Whatever principle of intelligence we attain unto in this life, it will rise with us in the resurrection.” D&C 130:18 “And that same sociality which exists among us here will exist among us there, only it will be coupled with eternal glory.” D&C 130:2 Being eternally connected to the family we love on earth, we are connected to a grand family of God. I’ll be glad to meet you there.
Wisdom Song – Laura Woodley Osman
This life is a time to choose what we want. What we really want. We made the choice to come here. Let’s not waste it, or short-change for something of no value.
